The 2023 wildfire in the National Forest Park of Dadia in Evros, Greece, was the largest recorded in the EU up to that time. Eighteen people, presumed migrants who crossed the border from Turkey, were found dead. The fire destroyed the habital of the protected Golden Eagles and other birds of prey.
